Laurie Skantzos: Painting the Natural World Through an Intuitive Lens
Laurie Skantzos is a Canadian painter based in Guelph, Ontario, whose vibrant abstract and semi-abstract works are deeply inspired by the natural world and her own inner reflections. She began her formal art education as a mature student, graduating with honors from the University of Waterloo, where she was recognized on the Dean’s Honour List and received the Liz Edwards Fine Art Memorial Award.
Laurie’s paintings have been showcased in galleries across Ontario and at prestigious art fairs worldwide, including the Affordable Art Fairs in London, New York, and Hong Kong, and Art Wynwood in Miami. Notable solo exhibitions include "Glow" at Spence Gallery and "Reflections" at Renann Isaacs Contemporary Art. Her talent has earned her awards such as Best in Show at the Riverdale Art Walk (2013) and an Honourable Mention at the Cabbagetown Art Festival (2014).
Working from her home studio, Laurie employs an intuitive, layered process to create paintings that resonate with energy and emotion. Her works are part of private and public collections across North America, Europe, and Asia, reflecting her widespread acclaim and appeal. Through her art, Laurie invites viewers to connect with the beauty and complexity of both nature and the human experience.
