Isabelle Derecque, a multidisciplinary artist and trained designer, achieved a major career highlight in 2022 when twenty paintings from her “Sunshine Pop!” series were added to the Deji Museum of Contemporary Art in Nanjing, China. This milestone solidifies her growing international recognition and showcases the vibrant, immersive nature of her work.
Born in Brussels in 1984, Isabelle’s art is deeply influenced by her love for travel, shaped by childhood memories of her grandmother’s sun-soaked life in Florida. Her paintings offer a visual escape, filled with bold colors and serene landscapes, blending calm with movement. Her use of mirrored plexiglas introduces a unique dynamic, where reflections and light transform each viewing into a personal experience that constantly evolves.
Educated at the College of Architecture and Design (CAD) in Brussels and later refined through time spent in London, Isabelle’s work reflects a deep sensitivity to light and space. Drawing from her design background, she integrates architectural elements with vibrant energy, while influences like gold leaf and her love for gastronomy and relaxation inspire the themes of her art.
Isabelle’s paintings do more than invite observation; they encourage interaction. The mirrored surfaces reflect both the viewer and their surroundings, making each engagement with the artwork a fluid and changing experience. This approach reinforces her belief in the transformative power of art.
With her work now part of the Deji Museum collection, Isabelle Derecque continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art, creating vibrant worlds that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in her colorful escapes.
